AdventureScouts
For Youth Ages 8-17
AdventureScouts is a multi-age, multi-year program for youth ages 8–17 who are ready to build real skills, take on meaningful challenges, and grow through hands-on experience in the wild. With a primary focus on Ranger and Voyager Guilds, Scouts develop competence and confidence through wilderness skills, navigation, teamwork, and adventure.
This program is designed to grow with the participant—offering achievement-based progression that meets youth where they are, and supports them as they rise into greater capability and maturity.
Focused on the Ranger and Voyager Guilds, youth progress through hands-on experiences: making fire, navigating trails, carving wood, building shelters, leading games, and learning to move through the forest with awareness and care. Their growing skills are then brought to life through seasonal LARP adventures—live-action roleplay quests where youth step into mythic roles and test their abilities in story-woven scenarios.
While AdventureScouts prepares youth for future thresholds by strengthening their sense of self, purpose, and belonging.
Scouts earn guild-aligned achievements in the WildWise Core Curriculum that track their skill development across seasons and years—celebrating progress and honoring effort, curiosity, and perseverance.
In AdventureScouts, every spark is a skill, every fire lit a lesson, every challenge a forge, every trail a teacher, and every quest a mirror
Each session includes:
- Wilderness skills training (fire, shelter, tools, tracking, navigation)
- Group games and team challenges
- Guild-based progress tracking
- Council, storytelling, and song
- Seasonal celebrations and service to the land
- Seasonal LARP
Rooted in Nature. Guided by Achievement . Grown in the Spirit of the Journey.
Each session weaves together:
- 🌿 Nature Connection – Youth deepen their relationship with the land through tracking, shelter-building, fire-making, and immersive outdoor play.
- 🫱 Community Building – Mixed-age groups foster teamwork, leadership, and peer mentorship. Games, group challenges, and shared stewardship build trust and belonging.
- 🔥 Self Discovery – As youth grow skills and face challenges, they reflect on their strengths, take initiative, and track their progress through the WildWise Guild system.
- ✨ Sacred Awareness – Circles, story, and seasonal celebrations help youth attune to the rhythms of nature and recognize the meaning woven through wild experiences.
- 🛡️ Mythic Integration – LARP quests allow Scouts to embody characters, apply wilderness skills in real-time, and experience learning as part of a living, unfolding story.
Is AdventureScouts Right for Your Child?
Weekly after-school program with occasional full-day adventures
AdventureScouts is a dynamic, mixed-age program designed to support youth in developing real-world skills, confidence, and camaraderie through consistent practice and play in the natural world. Youth thrive in this environment when they are ready for both weekday afternoons and occasional weekend or full-day events.
Youth are ready to join AdventureScouts when they can:
Attend regular after-school sessions (Wednesdays, 3:30–6:00 PM) with steady energy and interest
Participate in occasional longer day events or seasonal adventures with support
Follow instructions and adhere to basic safety guidelines—especially when using tools, around fire, and while exploring the land
Take responsibility for personal belongings and outdoor gear (with reminders as needed)
Show interest in learning and practicing wilderness skills like tracking, fire-building, carving, or navigation
Work respectfully within mixed-age groups
Communicate needs and feelings in a way that is respectful to peers and mentors
Be able to regulate their energy during transitions between active games and focused skill time
Participate in story-based quests (LARP) with creativity, cooperation, and a willingness to engage
Refrain from bullying or exclusion, and contribute to a group culture of safety, kindness, and inclusion
Be open to trying new things, getting dirty, and growing through effort and play
AdventureScouts does not require mastery—just a willingness to show up, try your best, and be part of something bigger than yourself.
