WoodSprites Forest Preschool
For Young Sprites Ages 4-5
With the playful spirit of explorers in a garden, our youngest adventurers learn to trust their senses, follow their curiosity, and root deeply into the living world where the forest is both classroom and kin.
In WoodSprites, every stick is a wand, every puddle a portal, and every moment a chance to remember we belong to this world, and it belongs to us.

Rooted in Wonder. Guided by Play. Grown in the Garden of Imagination.
The WoodSprites program nurtures the wild-hearted beginnings of lifelong connection through:
- Nature Kinship – Making friends with trees, stones, soil, and sky. Through daily curiosity and exploration, children grow a heartfelt bond with the wild world around them.
- Circle Culture – Singing, sharing, and working together fosters a cozy web of trust. We practice kindness, listen with our whole selves, and learn what it means to be part of a community.
- Self Tending – With space to feel, express, and choose, children learn to notice their needs, name their feelings, and build inner resilience—like moss growing soft and strong.
- Sacred Wonder – Seasonal magic reminds us that the world is full of meaning. We greet the sun, whisper to snails, and honor the quiet mystery woven through all things.

Is WoodSprites Right for Your Child?
The WoodSprites program is a magical doorway into the natural world, crafted especially for our youngest explorers. To keep the experience joyful, safe, and nurturing for all, there are a few foundational abilities your child needs before stepping into the forest with us.
Think of these as forest-friendly life skills—practical tools that help your child thrive in the wild.
Essential Readiness Skills
🌟 Listening & Communication
- Your child responds to their name when called (instead of wandering away or ignoring mentors).
- Can tell an adult when they need to go to the bathroom.
- Comfortable being away from a parent or guardian for the length of the program day.
- Can let us know if they’re feeling cold, uncomfortable, or need help.
🎒 Self-Care & Forest Gear
- Able to dress and undress mostly independently (some support is okay for ages 3–4).
- Can manage their own shoes—we recommend lace-up or Velcro shoes that support foot independence.
- Carries a small backpack with lunch, water, and daily gear.
- Willing to wear gear suited to the weather, such as raincoats, hats, gloves, or boots.
🚫 Please avoid sending your child in one-piece rain suits or clothing they can’t remove themselves.
🏃♀️ Physical Readiness
- Able to walk 3–6 miles throughout the day at a gentle group pace.
- Not dependent on naps between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
- Generally comfortable in changing weather, including light rain, cold, and warmth.
🌤 Social & Emotional Readiness
- Can follow simple instructions and basic safety guidelines.
- Gets along with other children and is not prone to hiding or running away when upset.
🌲 Potty Independence & Outdoor Hygiene
- Fully toilet trained—they can let a mentor know when they need to go and avoid accidents.
- Willing to learn how to “go” in the forest if needed. (We will teach them how in a respectful and supportive way.)
- Willing to carry their used wipes or clothing back out in their pack (we’ll support and guide them in how to do this).
💬 Still Unsure?
Every little sprite grows at their own pace. If you’re wondering about a specific skill or whether your child is ready for forest time, we’d be happy to chat.
