NatureQuest:Explorers

For Young Explorers Ages 9-11

Explorers is NatureQuest for youth on the edge of middle childhood and early adolescence—a time of vibrant imagination, emerging self-awareness, and expanding capability. Here, story meets skill, and play evolves into purpose.

Through guild-based learning, group quests, and real achievements, Explorers begin to step more fully into their role as members of a living, learning village.

The world grows wider and the inner voice grows stronger. In Explorers, youth gain both tools and insight to navigate this journey with courage, care, and growing wisdom.

In Explorers, every skill is a seed, every story a mirror, and every new step a part of the great unfolding path.

Rooted in Curiosity. Guided by Discovery. Grown in the Heart of the Forest.

This mid-level program nurtures:

  • Nature Kinship – Youth dive deeper into earth skills: fire-making, foraging, shelter-building, and nature observation. They begin to see patterns, make predictions, and understand their relationship to place.
  • Circle Culture – With growing independence comes greater responsibility. Explorers practice teamwork, take on roles in group challenges, and reflect on what it means to belong.
  • Self Discovery – Through guild activities, youth try on different archetypes—Ranger, Bard, Voyager, Mystic, Crofter—earning achievements as they pursue skills that light them up.
  • Sacred Awareness – Explorers encounter the mystery of the land through quiet sits, seasonal observations, and symbolic learning that awakens wonder and reverence.

Is NatureQuest:Explorers Right for Your Child?

Explorers are growing in independence and ready for real-world skills, group collaboration, and meaningful challenge. Your child may be ready if they can:

  • 🎒 Participate in a full day of active outdoor learning and exploration
  • 🔥 Follow multi-step instructions and stay on task with minimal redirection
  • 🧭 Show interest in hands-on skills like tracking, shelter-building, or foraging
  • 🛠️ Take responsibility for personal gear and group tasks
  • ⚠️ Follow safety protocols when using tools, fire, or navigating the land
  • 🤝 Participate respectfully in group games, council, and cooperative play
  • 🗣️ Communicate feelings, thoughts, and questions appropriately with adults and peers
  • 🌱 Show curiosity about their strengths and growing identity
  • 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Treat all participants with kindness and speak up if others are being hurt or excluded

Explorers must participate without bullying, and must respect mentors, group norms, and safety expectations.
